Al Keith, BA, LRT, CRT, AE-C
Al Keith is a certified asthma educator, licensed and certified respiratory therapist of 33 years, and a graduate of the University of Chicago Respiratory Therapy Program and National-Louis University, where he received his BA degree in Allied Health. As a result of his passion for clinical and patient education, Al advanced to become the Respiratory Care House Supervisor for Pediatrics and Coordinator of Respiratory Services for Neonatology at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics. In these positions, he was involved in the clinical education of respiratory therapists, nurses, patient care technicians, and resident, fellow, and staff physicians in the area of respiratory care. Al is also an accomplished professional musician and vocalist with 53 years of experience. CTK’s innovative asthma education program, “Asthma Blues”® utilizes the science of music and learning to communicate the NAEPP guidelines for asthma management. An "Asthma Blues"® educational study was done with hospitalized asthma patients in Chicago. The study results showed a 58% increase in their asthma knowledge and self-management skills. “Asthma Blues”® empowers people with asthma and their caregivers with evidence-based information, delivers key concepts that help them to manage asthma effectively, and equips them with the tools to keep asthma controlled. “Asthma Blues”® is “Music with A Message That Matters!”®
